Seminar on “Early Detection and Challenges of Breast Cancer in Bangladesh” at UAP

 

Social Awareness Club, UAP jointly organized a seminar with Blue Sky Charitable Foundation (BSCF) titled “Early Detection and Challenges of Breast Cancer in Bangladesh” on Wednesday July 12th at the seminar room of DBA.

Prof. Dr. Qamruzzaman Chowdhury, Director (Medical Service) and Head (Radiation Oncology Department), Ahsania Mission Cancer and General Hospital addressed the seminar as the keynote presenter. Mr. Nizam Chowdhury, Chairman, NRB Global Bank Limited as the Speaker, while Ms. Ayesha Siddiqua Shelley, Head of Advisory Committee, BSCF was present as the Chairperson of the seminar. Medical Consultants and representatives of BSCF were present at the seminar. Faculty members and students from different departments were attended in the seminar.

The presentation of the keynote speaker was very motivating, instructive and interactive. More than 90 participants attended the seminar and the message was clear: Prioritise your health and get regular checks. Prof. Dr. Qamruzzaman Chowdhury was eager to speak that the early diagnosis of breast cancer has a 90% survival rate. The seminar featured an update on the latest information about hereditary and lifestyle factors that affect cancer risk, plus screening recommendations for early detection of the disease.

The program was finally concluded with vote of thanks by Dr. Zabun Nahar, Department of Pharmacy. Mahjabeen Gazi, Advisor, Social Awareness Club and Waheeda Nasreen, Convener, Pharmacy Social Awareness Club was accompanied the seminar. Md. Ariful Huda Ashik, President, Social Awareness Club was coordinated the seminar. Frequently asked questions including the risk factors and management of the disease were addressed by the consultants and doctors presented in the seminar. The participants were given gifts by Aristopharma Limited.
